The Planets and their Origins

The Star Heiross is orbited by the five planets, the physical embodiment of the elemental forces that formed and divided before the world of Logros become fruitful. Heiross and the five planets are the Celestial Court of the High Gods, having divided claims of power over the light and shadow of all life therein.

It is told that before the gods, all was chaos and undivided, the progenitor of everything and nothing. From chaos a single egg was formed in the rolling abyss, growing larger and larger through endless eternity until it squeezed everything without it to the frozen limits of existence. Finally, it could grow no more and the shell cracked open to birth the first elements, fire and wind, which where birthed as the phoenix. The Cosmic Phoenix spread light through the caves of chaos, leaving eggs in hidden nests to fill the universe with stars that would light the way for her children.

The Children of Light were at first scattered far, but over aeons they came to find each other, gathering in groups for companionship. Jealousies arouse, and the Children of Light made war upon one another until the stars did fade and the cosmos was threatened with extinction. The Cosmic Phoenix returned to her children, sacrificing her life in a great war by placing herself between them. From her body and blood came the next elements, Water  and Earth.

Those Children who came to mourn the loss of their mother gathered her bones and blood into mounds, unable to leave her in their lamentations as they wailed for ceaseless ages. But the Cosmic Phoenix is eternal, and her life returned from the earth and water into the million forms that grow from the planets/mounds.

Those Children that had mourned for their primeval mother became the guardians of the many worlds, of which Logross is one. Old passions reawakened, the other Children fought for possession of these worlds and the variety of life they harboured. Beaten back or coming to dominate their brothers and sisters, the victors extinguished their fires and enslaved them to orbit, to serve each Sun and protect the legacy of the Phoenix; life.

The wars of the gods have never truly ceased since this time, whereby they operate through lesser intelligences and spirits, or the hearts and minds of men and animals. Heiross is the ruler of the other planets, the patron of Kings and wise vision (prophecy) so that he might keep a step ahead of his rivals. His light and influence is limited beyond Logross, which is halfway between the light and shadow

Iochs is the partner of Heiross, although she is half warm and half cold in her non rotational orbit. Her love is divided between the sun and His rival, Shaan the giant sphere which rules over the shadow half of the system. She is the patroness of artifice and intelligence, with which she can steal away secretly to join her other lover.

O’aum is the gas giant guardian, the right arm of Heiross in adjudicating the affairs of the solar system. He is the patron of strength and law.

Logross, the third planet from the sun is the manifestation of life eternal, and is the reformed egg of the Cosmic Phoenix. As an entity She is more potential than patroness, and the lands are filled with the agents of the Celestial Court and the minions who work from these higher orders. Fertility and Death are her symbols.

Logros has two moons, known in the vulgate as Fair Moon and Dark Moon, the latter of which can only be seen as a silhouette against the stars at night, seen during the day as a distant luminous body with its partner. Fair and Dark moon are the tragic lovers and siblings who endure a strange dance. Fair Moon upholds love and truth, Dark Moon teaches magic and hidden knowledge.

From Logross the light of Heiross dims, and although it does shine on the furthest worlds in the void his rule is weak. Nae’re is the red planet of animal lusts and passions without boundaries. He delights in war, blood, and base delights.

Clusters of asteroid rock encircle the fifth reach of the void, orbiting in groups around Heiross. These are the home worlds of unknown beings that are sometimes loosened from their celestial path to collide with Logros at the cruel whim of the final deity-planetoid, Shaan the Adversary.

Shaan is an extinguished sun, who challenged Heiross for the right to rule Logross and the other planets, which exist in an area of the heavens known as the Bridge of Heaven, a spiral galaxy arm of stars that enclose and protect uncountable distances within its fold.

The Twelve Guardians of the Holy Stations

Constellation companions who helped Heiross win his prize, they continue to fight back the Titans of forgotten gods. As the Sun/Heiross passes through the quadrants it reflects the 12 trials that were completed to win Logross from Shaan and the Titans.

Winter

- The White Horse (Proud Titan that was cast out by his kin, transmuted into a horse that crossed the wilderness until frozen. The Farian Mtns in west Yhorgii are sometimes identified as the site).

The Wolf (Offered itself as last meal on the coldest night to Heiross to save his life).

- The Oarsman (Helped Heiross cross the abyss and death to confront Shaan on the Black Beach).

Spring

- The Auger (prophesized that Heiross, alone of Gods and Titans, would come to rule Logross).

The Maiden Warrior (Charmed an army of male Titans to fight against their brothers).

- The Fish (swam to bottom of void to find key for Heiross).

Summer

The Garnet Serpent (Slain by Heiross then worn as a hauberk shirt, its tail left in the sky for men to wonder at).

- The Elephant Prince (The dragon mount of Heiross in the Twin’s Tournament, a dual with two brother Titans).

- The Archer (Matched against Heiross, they used the North Star as an archery target).

Autumn

- The Orchard Farmer ‘Apple’ (Hosted Heiross and taught Him how to yoke the Moon Oxen to plow his fields).

- The Moon Oxen (a constellation that is particularly  eclipsed by Dark Moon. The vehicle of Heiross, ridden backward with a flute in His hands rather than the reigns).

- The Shiver Woman (Aided Heiross in overcoming the Fire Witch).

The Unhoused & Lost Elementals

"Those Deities that exist within the wilds of Yhorgii without supplicants or temples are given the titles of 'The Unhoused' or 'Lost Elementals'. These expressions are used by the priests of the civilized temples to remind us that Gods and Spirits without a dedicated altar or roof are wicked  due to their vanity in not being memorialized and/or recognized as useful in the kingdoms of men. The forgotten faiths of ancient days are counted amongst The Unhoused." - From the Study Notes of Ramsan the Translator.

'Thormagor' ( also 'Tormargar') - Seasonal river Diety when tributary waters of the Ghajad Mountains overflow.

'Cult of the Black Moon' - Underground faith that once flourished before the Republic of Scir. It's name is revived from time to time and often associated with heresy against the ruling order. Ironically, members claim to be supplicating Dark Moon for the secrets of magic or other legendary sciences that the Gods despise.

'Dwaruz' -Well Demon of the south-western territories. Sacrifices are made to placate its thirst lest it drink the wells dry during the summer months.

Houses of the Holy

Hieross-Prime - The premier solar cult and official Imperial religion of known Yhorgii. Revived during the reign of Golexion I. All sub temples and recognized cults pay the 'Sun Tax' to the head temple.

Ki'ba - The Sacred Oath, and bond between merchants, generals, and kings. The institute of the Oathkeepers is a recent addition to the pantheon of known Yhorgii, a traditional office from the Clans of the Alwath. Introduced during the 15th year of Chiazhen I.

Alegsun-Almun - Ancient War Oracle of the Old Empire, its prophecies recorded since the Sirintai Emperors. It's prestige wained before the end of the Autumn Civil Wars. The temple survives on a misted peak in the Farian Vales.

To-Nemu-Vhana - Fertility God whose main temples occupy lands outside Corova, provincial capital of Meres.

The Water Horse (also Hippocampus) - Sea deity and messenger for the Leviathan of Western Ocean. A raised fishing cult now recognized in Greywater, provincial center of the Ashten Riverland.

Baruki - The West Wind, Harbinger of Lightning. Dantian name given to the tumultuous  weather that is stirred by the ceaseless waves of the Leviathan's tail.

Nammara (the Withering Wind) - God of Death and Famine, placated by the Halfmen of the south-west territories. Identified with the hot southern winds that parch their lands.
